  1. I think it is important to maintain cultural pluralism within schools and our society. It is important for kids to interact with children of their own cultural, and be able to live in the environment of their culture, even when surrounded by different ones. This allows children to keep their identity and the identity of their family stable, while also living around people of other cultural descent. However, it is also important to integrate cultures within school and share experiences and ways of life. This will allow students to understand one another, and respect another student's culture and origin. It is important to be able to separate yourself into your culture, but it is also important to share this with others around you and create a more diverse and understanding world.

    1. I completely agree it's important to have something to call your own such as your cultural background but it is also important to share this knowledge and learned from others.

  2. I think it is both important to maintain cultural pluralism and integrate cultures so that students can understand and connect with one another better. I agree with Amanda however that there also should be cultural pluralism so that students can connect with other students from the same background and really connect with their roots. It's important to remember where one comes from and I think that this plays an important role. However, students should also be willing to learn about others cultures and share their own. This will create knowledgable students who will accept and respect cultural diversity.

  3. I agree that in order to respect each other and each other's culture we must stray a bit from cultural pluralism. Respect between cultures is a very important factor that needs work in our society, so it is definitely important to incorporate that into our schools.

  4. I agree with both Amanda and Josie that it is important for cultural pluralism to maintained in school. Cultural pluarism is a step above from multiculturalism in the fact that multiculturalism lacks the dominant culture. An integration of culture is also important though because that is how people can truly respect and learn more about these cultures. There's a difference from just viewing them vs actually being a part of the culture

  5. As my fellow classmates stated, cultural pluralism should be a goal within our school. K50 states teachers should take the initiative to understand the different races and ethnicity of students in the classroom. When the teacher becomes familiar with different cultures, it will help to develop and implement an equity pedagogy. Joise mentioned a great point when she said cultural pluralism will help students connect better and understand the world around them. It will also teach them to respect people, even though they are different from you and your family.
